Metal Cleanroom Wall Panel

December 22, 2021

Metal wall panels are the most widely adopted solution for cleanrooms thanks to their adaptability to various environments and cost-effectiveness. Their durability and compliance with strict hygiene standards make them the ideal choice for controlled environments.

Nicos offers a portfolio of four different types of metal wall panels, each designed to meet specific application requirements:

  • Powder Coated Aluminum
  • Powder Coated Galvanized Steel
  • uPVC Coated Galvanized Steel
  • Stainless Steel

Offering a wide portfolio allows Nicos to always have the right choice for the customer.

Powder Coated Aluminum

Powder Coated Aluminum is a popular choice for cleanroom panels thanks to its durability and cleanliness combined with cost-effectiveness and ease of handling.

The powder coating creates a tough and scratch-resistant surface that resists to impacts and wear. This allows for extending the panel’s longevity in cleanroom environments.

Additionally, powder-coated aluminum offers good resistance to chemicals and cleaning agents. Aluminum itself is naturally corrosion-resistant, and the powder coating further enhances its ability to withstand exposure to harsh substances.

Its non-porous surface prevents bacterial growth and allows for easy cleaning.

Compared to steel, aluminum is lighter, easier to install, and more affordable, making it a practical choice for many applications.

Powder Coated Galvanized Steel

Steel is inherently stronger than aluminum, therefore it better resists to scratches and dents, but it still represents a cost-effective solution.

A key advantage of steel over aluminum is its superior fire resistance. Aluminum has a low melting point, making it less suitable for environments where fire safety is a priority.

Galvanization involves applying a protective zinc coating to steel to prevent rust and corrosion. There are various process for galvanization, but all are aimed to create a protective barrier to steel, thus enhancing the material lifespan.

uPVC Coated Galvanized Steel

The uPVC coating offers a more robust barrier against moisture, chemicals, and disinfectants. The 100µm PVC layer is non-porous, preventing bacterial growth and making it easy to clean. Additionally, the coating absorbs impacts, reducing the risk of surface damage.

Despite offering performance comparable to high-end materials, uPVC-coated galvanized steel remains a cost-effective option, making it an attractive alternative to more expensive solutions.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel panels are the premium choice for cleanrooms with the most demanding requirements.

Stainless steel is a more expensive option compared to galvanized steel and aluminum, but it offers superior durability and corrosion resistance. While galvanized steel presents just an outer protective layer, the stainless steel is fully resistant from rust and corrosion. Therefore, even in the event of scratches or dents, the stainless steel still does not degrade.

Moreover, stainless still is extremely strong and impact-resistant, making it ideal for high-traffic cleanrooms, compared to the softer aluminum.

Though it requires a higher initial investment, its low maintenance and long lifespan make it the best option for facilities designed to operate for many years.
